Viva la France, Day 12, 7/13/18
We said good bye to Italy and said hello to France. We left the US on the 4th of July and arrived in France in time to celebrate Bastille Day. This is a day of celebration throughout France. The 14th of July is the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille in France,the unity of the French people. Feudalism was abolished and the Declaration of Rights of Citizens and of Man was enacted.
We enjoyed our drive and arrived on the French Riviera around 1:00. After checking into our hotel, we went to a seaside restaurant for lunch. We really enjoyed the meal, especially we enjoyed Keith Urban singing a country music song "Somebody Like You" and later on when were having dinner, we especially enjoyed listening to Dean Martin sing "Amore".
The French Riviera was very interesting to us. We enjoyed watching the Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Bentleys, and Mazerattis driving up and down the streets. We gave up on counting Porsches and BMW's. It reminded me of when I was growing up in Atmore and driving back and forth between the Dairy Bar and the Florida State line.
