Journey of Discovery, Day before 1. 07/03/18

"Our happiest moments as tourists always seem to come when we stumble upon one thing while in pursuit of something else.” — Lawrence Block

We invite you to travel with the Kearleys and the Hatfields as they embark on a trip to Northern Italy and the south of France.
Go with them as they take a walking tour of the old town, Milan, Italy.  Visit the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie,  There you will take a private tour of one of the world's most recognizable paintings, The Last Supper, painted in the late 1400's by Leonardo DaVinci.  This painting is not on canvas, but on the wall of the rectory.
We will stay in Milan a couple of nights, pickup a rental car, and make a 4 hour drive to Tuscany.  We have rented a house for the week near Cortona.  Cortona is the setting of the book and movie, "Under the Tuscan Sun".
After learning all we can about the Etruscans and wine and cheese making, we will  continue our journey of discovery.  We will visit The Cinque Terre, 5 villages perched on the mountains overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Two days later we will travel along the French Riviera.  We won't stay long, but will take pictures.
Our destination in France is the village of Menerbes, located in the Luberon Mountains.  The book, "A Year in Provence", is set in Menerbes.  Menerbes, is called one of the most beautiful villages in France and the center of the lavender fields.  This is where we will call home for one week. When we leave here we will go into the French Alps to the village of Annecy for a couple of nights, then back to Milan, Delta to Atlanta and home.  Wine, pasta, cheese, lavenders, croissants...you get the picture. Travel with us..our journey will be your journey.
