I may not be able to speak the French language, but I feel French. I got up early this morning and walked to the center of the ville in Menerbes. Along the way I ran into a guy I met yesterday and again this morning. He is now my friend, but I have not gotten pass saying bon jour. While in town, I thought I would surprise everyone with fresh croissants for breakfast. I ordered 4 and gave the clerk a 5 euro bill to pay for them. I assume that is what they cost because he took my money and offered no change in return. When walking back to our villa by a different direction, I ran into my friend again. Maybe I will see him tomorrow.
Our itinerary today started out with a trip to Gordes. We encountered a slight delay trying to get through Menerbes. We traveled down a very steep one-way street. When we got to the end of the street, a car blocked our way. We were at an impasse. I walked around looking for the driver, but had little success. As we were discussing our lack of alternatives, the car's owner came walking up the street and saw he had blocked our travel He had been to the store and had an arm load of fruits and vegetables. He was very apologetic and offered me some of his strawberries. I took one. Then we went on our way,
Today we went to Gordes, Abbey Senanque, and the village of Vensaque. Gordes is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. We agree, and also many movie stars and artists share the same opinion. They choose to live here. We chose to visit this city today for the market. We enjoyed our visit here and after lunch we visited the Senaque Abbey. The abbey was founded in 1148 and is still in use today. The monks who live there today support themselves by growing lavender, tending to honey bees, and making wine. These items are available in the Abbey bookstore. After our visit ended here, we went to the cliffside village of Venasque. This is a medieval village located at the foot of Mont Ventoux. Far from the beaten path, it is visited by few tourists. The views are spectacular, and it was a pleasure to walk its narrow streets and discover its heritage. A full day, we are headed back to Menerbes.

| Just about every village has one of these. A WWI monument with the names of the villagers who lost their lives between 1914 and 1918. This one had the names of 6 family members on it. |
