After boarding the plane in Montgomery, we sat on the ramp in Montgomery on a weather hold to get into Atlanta (Fog). Fortunately, we did not miss our connection to NYC for the final hop across the Atlantic. The crossing was uneventful, however, Ricky took sick during the flight, but due to the miracle of modern medicine, he had recovered by the time we got to Rome.
When boarding our flight to Rome, we had to transit through first class and tourist comfort zones to get to our seats in the rear. While in first class, I overheard the wine steward suggesting to the first class passengers a recommendation for a French Bordeaux or a very nice Italian Chianti. With much anticipation I proceeded to my seat awaiting our wine steward. A cabin attendant came by wanting to know what we wanted to drink. I asked the wine choice...."Red" he said. OK, then I'll have red. He brought out a very fine Merlot in a card board box. Paraphrasing the words of Scarlett O'Hara...."If we win the lottery, I will never fly tourist again".
We landed safely in Rome and after a terrifying drive through Rome, arrived at our Hotel.
