Behind the curtain, Day 1, 4/24/2012
We traveled to Atlanta and boarded our Delta flight to Europe, retracing the route of Charles Lindbergh, those many years ago. It took us 8 hours. When we boarded the plane, with much anticipation, of the amenities provided for us by Delta, we walked through the first class section, noting the recliners, comforters and drinks everyone was enjoying. Then we went behind the curtain and reality hit us in the face. We had the "sardine" experience. We were also told, in the interest of security, to stay on our side of the curtain. If we had to use the facilities, use tourist, rather than 1st Class. What used to be called customer service pales in comparison to today's air travel. What Delta does to the inflight meal borders on criminal. Whoever comes up with these meals should have to eat them. Enough of this, after a fitful night of no rest, dreaming about what life must be on the other side of the curtain, we arrived in Paris. The adventure begins now.
We were met at the airport, by Renaldo, a native of Sri Lanka. Renaldo took us on a terrifying journey to our Hotel, the Relais Bosquet. A very nice boutique hotel, in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.
