The Journey Begins 07/11/2010

After a delightful lunch at Sinclairs at Lake Martin with our Sunday School class, Linda and I started the first leg of our journey to the last frontier. We arrived in Columbia , Tn around 5:30. Saw no bears, but did see deer and rabbits.
We did visit a very pretty plantation, Elm Springs, now the national headquarters of the Sons of the Confederacy. We also had the opportunity to go by the home of the 11th President of the US, James K. Polk. A very nice 2 story McMansion near downtown. Very wealthy, I suspect.
Although, we saw no bears, the question did come up, If there are two bears, which one gets the bear spray. Just wondering.
I will send a report tomorrow night from Bloomington, Il. I might add, also, when we left the Cradle of the Confederacy, it was 97 degrees. It is 83 degrees here.
