Day 6, continued.....

Sorry about last night. When we got into Banff, we walked downtown for dinner and check things out. Before we realized it, it was late. We are 1 hour behind CST. At 11:00CST it was still daylight here. The sub did not set here until 9:30 MST.
I must start this blog off with a disclaimer about the bear photo on day 5. We have not seen a bear. I bought a postcard with a picture of a Montana Grizzly on it. I asked Linda to make a picture of the postcard and then I posted it on the blog. No more of that. if you see a bear here, it will be because we saw the Bear. We are going to Lake Louise and check things out today.
Back to yesterday. We left Great Falls, Mt and proceeded north through the high prairie of mt. Pretty drive. The border crossing into Canada was uneventful. We went through a couple of small Canadian towns, much like what we see at home. We stopped a a very nice park located on the "Old man" river and had a picnic lunch, then headed toward Calgary. Everything up is metric and km's. The speed limit is 110 km (68 mph). Gas is .91 per litre or $3.47 per gallon. If any of you are planning on a road trip to Calgary....do not.....plan on coming through Calgary, the largest city we will travel through, a city of 1,000,000 people, during rush hour on a Friday afternoon. The route to Banff took us right smack down town Calgary. Once we were able to traverse this city, we turn west toward the Canadian Rockies and Banff. Stunning vistas every where. We arrived in to Banff and were very pleased with our accommodations at the Rundlestone Lodge. We will be here until tomorrow. We walked downtown. Banff reminds me of an upscale western Gatlinburg with taller mountains and fewer people. You would like it. We had a great dinner at a small pub, St. James Gate, last night. They are big on Pubs here.
Well, we have bear spray in hand and are off to Lake Louise. Photos and commentary to follow.
Until tonight...Jerry
